About us

We all want to live to a good age, but we also want to be physically and mentally active.

There is no point in living to 100 if your last years are spent lying in bed unable to recognise your children.

We know that diet and exercise are important to our quality of life, but should we eat dairy, stop eating fat and take statins?

It is all very confusing!!

Unfortunately there is so much misleading, and some downright dangerous, information pushed by vested interests, that it is hard to find out the truth.

I am a science teacher and I have always been fascinated by what people eat, and how that affects them.

Initially I studied weight loss, then I moved on to vitality and exercise.

I retrained as a nutrition coach, to try to further my understanding.

I have at least seven emails a day from the leading health websites, then do my own research on top of that.

This website is a précis of the information that I have found to be most useful.

On the whole doctors are hard working and dedicated, but because they are mainly taught how to use drugs, nutrition is given only the briefest mention.

And many patients expect a pill to solve their problems, either physical or mental.

Doctors are useful for certain ailments, and it is up to each one of us to decide when that is the case.

I have faced medical issues, and made grave mistakes that have had long term effects on my health, in following my doctor’s well intentioned advice.

Now I do my own research and make my own decisions about my health and treatment.

Now I seek advice and treatment from naturopaths, acupuncturists and osteopaths before doctors.

My husband and I are in our 60s, we are slim and fit, living in Australia.

Our two sons, now in their 30s ,only missed one day of school between them, because they were never ill. They also only have two fillings.
