Vitamin C

Vitamin C is water soluble and an essential cofactor in numerous enzymatic reactions. We all know that citrus fruit has high levels, but unfortunately they are nowhere high enough.

The benefits of vitamin C where known as long ago as 1949 when Dr

Klenner cured 60 out of 60 cases of polio by giving 6,000-20,000mg of C each 24 hours .. He also cured pneumonia and wrote about it in a February 1948 paper – published in the Journal of Southern Medicine and Surgery entitled, ‘Virus Pneumonia and Its Treatment with Vitamin C.’

Linus Pauling received a Nobel Prize for his work with Vitamin C. In is last interview he said

‘I think we can get almost complete control of cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stokes by the proper use of [vitamin C and lysine]..even cure it’

His therapy for cardiovascular and heart disease is high dosages of Vitamin C, which strengthens the arteries so they don’t need repair that causes atherosclerosis, and Lysine, a binding inhibitor. This can actually reverse the plaque build up in the arteries, a sticky form of LDL cholesterol that Pauling and Rath identified as the main risk factor.

According to the Linus Pauling Institute –

Prospective cohort studies indicate that higher intakes of vitamin C from either diet or supplements are associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), including coronary heart disease and stroke’

So why hasn’t your doctor told you about it? Doctors are hard working caring people, but they were trained by the drug companies to sell their drugs. Heart by pass surgery is big business; a lot of money is made by a lot of people.

I was talking to a newly qualified doctor last week who told me she had only studied nutrition for 2 weeks!!!

I studied it, for teaching biology, for 3 years, then I did 1 year to become a nutrition coach, and I spend at least 2 hours a day dong my own research.

So do I know more than the average doctor? You bet I do. And if you read my website, so will you!!

Dr Saul is an expert in Vitamin C and it’s effects on the body. His work shows that vitamin C inhibits growth of bacteria and stimulates the immune system. It is needed for white blood cells to function properly. Because it is structurally similar to glucose, [vitamin C C6H8O6 glucose C6H12O6]C is readily taken into the cells, where it is toxic to cancer cells, causing them to die.

C is also a strong antibiotic and anti viral. If you start to feel unwell, take large doses of ascorbic acid, the purest form is the powder, until you get wind or loose stool. That is the sign that you have taken enough.

In very serious conditions because you body is so depleted, you might not actually be able to take enough to reach that stage.

A study by theUniversity of California at San Francisco published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). shows show that C can reduce the level of lead in blood.

.This was a huge study of 19,000 adults and children, and found that the children that were in the highest third for vitamin C levels had an amazing 89% lower incidence of lead toxicity!

Lead can cause rain damage in children and has been banned for years, but can still be absorbed from old paint and building materials

Vitamin C doesn’t interfere with chemo and doesn’t harm normal cells.

Most animals make vitamin C apart from humans, guinea pigs, bats, and some apes.

Monkeys make 5-600 milligrams, a gorilla 5,000 a day!!

When they are sick, they make even more-a goat will make 15-20,000 milligrams a day!

For humans Dr Saul suggests 12-20,000 milligrams a day as the standard dose if we are well, but 25,000 , or more if you are ill

Because it is structurally similar to glucose, C is readily taken into the cells, where it is toxic to cancer cells, causing them to die

Dr. Cathcart has successfully treated over 20,000 patients with very large doses of vitamin C, sometimes administering over 150,000 mg per day.

In one study 463 students were divided into 2 groups, one was given mega doses of C. On reporting symptoms of colds or flu they were treated with hourly doses of 1000 mg of Vitamin C for the first 6 hours and then 3 times daily thereafter. The control group were not given anything.

‘Conclusion-Vitamin C in megadoses administered before or after the appearance of cold and flu symptoms relieved and prevented the symptoms in the test population compared with the control group.’

There are hundreds of studies showing the same results.

Cancer patients need huge amounts, the best way is to put it straight into their veins at very high doses- a minimum of 10,000 milligrams every 12 hours. The protocols are on Saul’s website.

In New Zealand Allan Smith was in a coma and nearly died form pneumonia, following Swine Flu, and was only saved by 25 grams intravenously twice a day. Unfortunately the family had to fight the doctors, even using a solicitor, to get this treatment.

Smith made a good recovery, but the doctors still deny it was anything to do with the Vitamin C although there are many research papers showing it is effective against virus infections,

Ascorbic acid is cheap, and it works. It is best to get the pure form, without calcium or expedients added. This is what Linus Pauling used in his research.

Cooking destroys the C content of food, so it is better to eat most of your vegetables raw.

Most forms of C are weakly acid, except calcium ascorbic, which is may be used to swish around your mouth to stop gum disease without damaging the tooth enamel.

Babies can be given liquid C,20,000 milligrams a day, or to bowel tolerance. It can bring down a high fever within 2 days.

Apart from fighting infection, Vitamin C is important in our diet because it enables more iron, which carries oxygen to our cells, to be taken up and absorbed.

According to the Journal of the American Heart Foundation there is even research showing that Vitamin C helped convert mouse embryonic cells growing in the laboratory to heart muscle cells.

Imagine if we were able to grow new heart cells when we needed them!

The plant with the known highest natural source of Vitamin C is the Kakadu Plum, from Australia. I take this in powder form each day, as well as the cheaper ascorbic acid.

Professor Hellens, who is studying vitamin C and plants, said plants responded to factors in the environment like extreme light or drought by producing vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, to protect themselves from damage5

A lesser known use for vitamin C has been used successfully in helping heroin addicts overcome their addiction more easily. It seems to mimic the effect of heroin and helps them overcome the craving, stimulate appetite and improve sleep 5

This is a vital nutrient that we can not get enough of from our food, and we must all supplement.

The Mayo Clinic does warn that there could be some dangerous side effects with very high doses.

These include thickening of blood vessels, kidney stones and possible Parkinson’s.

Vitamin C may interfere with blood thinning medication, and effect blood sugar levels. It may also increase blood pressure.

You can

I have searched the web for more of these negative side effects, but so far have not found anything to back up what the Mayo claims.

But I will keep looking and keep you posted.
